Getting Through Tamil Nadu
Getting Through Tamil Nadu

Getting Through Tamil Nadu

Tamil Nadu, the State on the east coast, feels like the real South India.  It’s about as opposite to Goa as you can get.  Gone are the palm tree lined beaches, cheap cold beers, banana pancakes and beach huts, and…

While most of the travellers we met in our two weeks were hitting the beaches of Varkala, we decided to save our sand time for the ten days we’d planned in the Andaman Islands, and opted to instead spent a…

After spending a lovely day on Captain James’ boat in Alleppey, Marieke and I headed down to Kollam, where we had an interesting stay at a local hotel.  Still unsure of whether or not we wanted to commit to…

Coming into the trip, we had been told a lot of different stories about India, and what to expect.  After 6 weeks in, here is a bit of our take on what we’d been expecting, and what we have actually…

2014 Up in Flames

We spent most of the 31st unaware of how lost we were, walking through the less touristy district of Fort Kochin trying to find the neighbouring district of Manticherry. While it might seem that we had done nothing special at…

Due to the very high season falling between Christmas and New Year’s, we didn’t end up splurging on a nice place to stay in Hampi, as there really wasn’t anyplace available that was worth spending an extra ten dollars a…

While Christmas away from home is always a little strange, it was also my fourth time in the last five years. I have spent Christmas day in Nicaragua, Bali, Colombia and now India.  Inevitably, it always seems to be in…

I will be the first to admit that it took myself and Steph and few days to get into the “Ashram lifestyle” partly because we had no idea what we were signing up for. We had slept through the first…

BORDERLINE CRAZY BLOGGERS

We’re Stephanie Williams and Marieke Gow, two friends brought together by our obsession with travel.  Since we live on opposite sides of Canada, we mainly only see each other during our epic travels. We started this blog in 2014 during our first joint trip (India) as a way to share stories from the road with friends, family and whoever else might be interested.  Since then, we have explored a number of countries together and independently and continue to journal our experiences on the Borderline Crazy Blog.
