Sri Lanka revisited- Arugam Bay and Ella

If you’re wondering why I went to Sri Lanka, as I had already been a couple of years ago, it was to meet a couple of friends I had met 10 years prior traveling in Southeast Asia. There were about…

The Worst Airport in the World

Flying out of Madrid, I was heading to Sri Lanka for a couple of weeks, to meet up with friends from previous travels. Due to the very reasonable flight times (leave at 3pm from Madrid, have a 2 hours stopover,…

Final Days in Spain: Madrid

After a 5.5 hour bus ride from Oviedo, I arrived in Madrid. I took a quick Metro ride to my hostel for the next 4 nights, which was another really nice hostel. One of those ones with curtains on the…

Ode to Oviedo

From Valencia, I had a train booked at 10:40am, arriving at 1:05pm at Puerta Atocha station in Madrid, then a 2:00pm bus booked to Oviedo, a small city in Northern Spain, from Estacion D’sur station. The stations are a 30…

Valencia

After a brief recovery in Barcelona, I arrived in Valencia tired, of course. I think the heat was sapping my energy, as I was hardly drinking and going to bed very early by local standards (late enough though). I had…

Barcelona

Some late nights in Seville, a couple of very hot days in Lyon, and four nights in a big house with my friends from high school, added up to a desperate lack of sleep. I was starting to feel like…

Castling in rural France

Other than booking the house months ago, and taxis to get us to the wedding and back and from the train station, we had not done a lot of research on where we were staying for four nights. But our…

Cordoba, Lyon and Dijon

After staying out til 2:30am watching Flamenco in Sevilla, I grabbed a morning bus to Cordoba. I was hoping to escape some of the heat from Sevilla, but it hit 38 in Cordoba. Ouch. Luckily, my hostel was very cool…

BORDERLINE CRAZY BLOGGERS

We’re Stephanie Williams and Marieke Gow, two friends brought together by our obsession with travel.  Since we live on opposite sides of Canada, we mainly only see each other during our epic travels. We started this blog in 2014 during our first joint trip (India) as a way to share stories from the road with friends, family and whoever else might be interested.  Since then, we have explored a number of countries together and independently and continue to journal our experiences on the Borderline Crazy Blog.
