Back to Mendoza: Exploring the Uco Valley

Back to Mendoza: Exploring the Uco Valley

Upon returning to Mendoza we checked back into the hostel Bed for Wine, a place we had found haphazardly on our first visit to the wine capital of Argentina. It may seem strange that we were going back to somewhere…

Welcome to Barf-re-al: Hell on Earth in Barreal

Alright, the town we were staying in was called Barreal not Barfreal, but that is always how I am going to remember it. It seems that I am making it a habit of telling stories about getting sick on the…

Blo-karting our way off the beaten track: Barreal

With extra time in Argentina due to Marieke not having a passport (and therefore not able to enter Chile, Uruguay or Bolivia), we decided to head back to Mendoza to meet up with a friend we had met in Puerto…

Roadtripping through Northern Argentina Part V: Purmamarca to Salta

Our final day of the road trip started off with a bit of relief as left the odd town of Purmamarca, heading for the hills and beyond to Salinas Grandes.  We were soon climbing sharply up the twisty mountain roads,…

Roadtripping through Northern Argentina Part IV: Cochi to Purmamarca

We awoke unsure if Eddie would be alive, but luckily he was, and even luckier, willing to drive us again today, this time to Purmamarca.  The promise of a sealed, paved road (for the most part) awaited.  That and stunning…

Roadtripping through Northern Argentina Part III: Cafayate to Cochi

With a long day ahead of us, we managed to get an early start and on the road by 8:30am.  Half an hour later however, we had to stop to take photos and enjoy the blissful morning just outside of…

Road-tripping through Northern Argentina Part II: Salta to Cafayate

We woke up a bit tired (as usual), after our relatively late night hanging out with my friend Karina, but managed to be on the road by 9:30am.  Getting out of Salta tested Eddie’s driving skills and patience, as he…

San Rafael – Visiting a Newfoundlander’s Winery in Argentina

Following our comically devastating day of trying to get from Mendoza to San Rafael we needed our luck to turn around.  Fortunately I had been in contact with a wine representative from St. John’s who carried Chayee Bourass, a winery…

Worst Day Ever- Mendoza Part III

Worst Day Ever- Mendoza Part III

I should have known that the bottle breaking was an omen for the day that lay ahead.  The 200 peso bottle of DiamAndes Malbec, the most expensive bottle of wine that we had bought so far on the trip, the…

BORDERLINE CRAZY BLOGGERS

We’re Stephanie Williams and Marieke Gow, two friends brought together by our obsession with travel.  Since we live on opposite sides of Canada, we mainly only see each other during our epic travels. We started this blog in 2014 during our first joint trip (India) as a way to share stories from the road with friends, family and whoever else might be interested.  Since then, we have explored a number of countries together and independently and continue to journal our experiences on the Borderline Crazy Blog.
