Visiting the Penguins of Isla Magdalena – Chile

Since Steph loves getting up super early in the morning we booked a 6:30am ticket out of Ushuaia to Punta Arenas in Chile.  The truth was you could only get tickets for the bus on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and…

Going Postal in Tierra del Fuego

With our boat trip done, we decided to explore more of the land beyond Ushuaia, and headed to Tierra del Fuego National Park, to test out our camping gear and hiking legs.  The shuttle dropped us off at Lago de…

A very cold boat ride in Ushuaia

With our tour of the Beagle Channel from Ushuaia rescheduled from the night before, we packed on nearly all of our clothes (in hindsight, I should have added a t-shirt for a fifth layer) and headed to the boat.  We…

The End of the World as We Know It: Ushuaia

I was woken up out of a deep sleep by the announcement that we would be landing in Ushaia in twenty minutes.  I looked out the window and took in the stunning views.  White peaks rose dramatically through the clouds,…

An Argentine Inauguration

Our first task upon arriving in Buenos Aries was exchanging our money.  Normally we would order currency ahead of time, but in Argentina there is an official rate and the Blue Dollar rate.  Few visitors to Argentina are foolish enough…

Two Minutes to get to Buenos Aires

I arrived in Toronto a few days before our flight to Buenos Aires, as I wanted to visit friends.  On the day of our midnight flight, Marieke and I met up with her friends for a drink.  As it was…

Isabela Part 2-Galapagos Islands

When the rest of the crew left to take the boat to San Cristobal, Marieke and I found a cozy and clean guesthouse, with air conditioning as a much appreciated bonus!  Rested up, we rented a couple of mountain…

Isolated on Isabela

Isabela Island was my favourite of the three.  While the biggest islands in the Galapagos, it was also the least busy, without an aiport, and generally left off the schedule of all the cruises.  It didn’t hurt that the beaches…

Diving Santa Cruz – Galapagos

When it comes to diving, Galapagos is not the colourful coral jungle that you will find in the Great Barrier Reef, but it gives you the opportunity to swim with bigger creatures than just a couple of fish.  The two…

BORDERLINE CRAZY BLOGGERS

We’re Stephanie Williams and Marieke Gow, two friends brought together by our obsession with travel.  Since we live on opposite sides of Canada, we mainly only see each other during our epic travels. We started this blog in 2014 during our first joint trip (India) as a way to share stories from the road with friends, family and whoever else might be interested.  Since then, we have explored a number of countries together and independently and continue to journal our experiences on the Borderline Crazy Blog.
