Diani Beach- The Nicest Beach on the Kenyan Coast, Apparently.

With Marieke still feeling the effects of a stomach bug she had in Mombasa, we decided to grab a Bolt taxi to the pier, to walk on the ferry to get across the water to the southern Kenya coast. Our…

Super Bowl Monday Morning in Mombasa

Guest post by Jonathan Baggs There’s a lot of heartbreak in the lives of most team sports fans.  The goal of any team’s season is to win a championship.  Anything less is a disappointment and the closer a team gets…

Camels, Keys and BCD’s in Watamu

After learning about the potentially dangerous road north to Lamu, Marieke and I decided to head back south and let Steph take the risk and rewards.  We decided to go to Watamu, a beach town a half hour from Malindi. …

Alone in Lamu

It’s always a good sign when the driver spends the first 5 minutes bailing out the bottom of the boat before you can leave the island. Just when I thought he was done he switched to the other, smaller bailer…

Malindi and Marieke’s Holy Pants

I struggle to find good travel pants.  Newfoundland shops rarely carry anything appropriate for activities in hot weather.  This is why I was stoked to find a pair of light cotton pants (with pockets!) at Reitmans for just $4.50 a…

Smuggling Gin and Knives on the Train from Nairobi to Mombasa

After a lot of camping at Lake Navaisha and in the Maasai Mara, we were pretty excited about the prospect of staying in an apartment for a few days in Nairobi, which ended up costing less than three beds in…

Maasai Mara & the Big ⅘

Guest Post By Jon Baggs While staying at Lake Naivasha, we planned to bicycle through Hell’s Gate National Park.  There were bikes for rent at Fisherman’s Camp, where we were staying, so, the evening before, we checked out the bikes…

BORDERLINE CRAZY BLOGGERS

We’re Stephanie Williams and Marieke Gow, two friends brought together by our obsession with travel.  Since we live on opposite sides of Canada, we mainly only see each other during our epic travels. We started this blog in 2014 during our first joint trip (India) as a way to share stories from the road with friends, family and whoever else might be interested.  Since then, we have explored a number of countries together and independently and continue to journal our experiences on the Borderline Crazy Blog.
